Trustix™ AntiVirus 2005 Features
Process Monitoring
Trustix™ Antivirus 2005 also continually scans memory resident processes for viruses. If you launch a program or file which creates destructive anomalies then the scanner will detect it. You will then be offered the chance to disinfect, delete or block access to the specific object. Trustix™ Anti-Virus performs the check for viruses in the memory of running programs right after it is loaded, and also every time you update your anti-virus databases. This 'always on' protection against pernicious RAM based processes means viruses are stopped in their tracks before your entire computer is affected.
Scan Logging
The 'Reports' feature of Trustix AntiVirus 2005 provides an in depth record of all scans performed. For every scan performed, an On Demand Scan Report will be generated. The On Demand Scan report displays information such as type of scan, date of scan, status of scan, total files scanned, total files infected, total files disinfected, total files quarantined, total files deleted, action taken, user name and computer name.
Automatic virus removal - sterilize your PC
Trustix™ AntiVirus automatically detects and eliminates all types of viruses quickly and effectively.
After selecting the drives to scan, any infected files it encounters are detected, intercepted and disinfected before they can deliver their destructive payload.
Heuristic detection engine - Protects against unknown viruses
Trustix™ AntiVirus 2005 employs the latest heuristic techniques to identify previously unknown viruses and Trojans. 'Heuristics' describes the method of analyzing the code of a file to ascertain whether it contains code typical of a virus. If it is found to do so then Trustix AntiVirus 2005 will disinfect the file or recommend it for quarantine.
This is a quantum leap in the battle against malicious scripts and programs as it allows the engine to 'predict' the existence of new viruses- even if it isn't contained in the current virus database.
Wizard Based Daily Updates - As threats occur, Trustix™ protects.
Online threats from viruses, worms and Trojans evolve and manifest themselves on a daily basis. In order to guarantee the relevance of your antivirus software it is imperative that your virus databases are updated as regularly as possible.
Our anti-virus database is maintained and updated around the clock by a team of dedicated technicians, providing you with the solutions to the latest virus outbreaks.
Every time Trustix™ AntiVirus 2005 is started it automatically checks the date stamp on the virus database. If it discovers that the database is more than a day old it will alert the user and suggest that they update their libraries.
Users are then presented with a simple, step-by-step wizard that guides the user through the process of updating the virus definitions. If updates are available, they are automatically downloaded and integrated into the existing database.
Scheduled Updates - Round-the-clock protection
A potentially frustrating aspect of most anti-virus software is the need for administrators to devote precious time to manually update virus databases. Forgetting to do so can have serious consequences. In the worse cases, administrator lassitude can leave your PC vulnerable to devastation from the newest viruses.
Trustix™ AntiVirus 2005 can be configured to check for updates according to a schedule that meets your preferences. Get on with more important matters whilst your PC is silently and comprehensively immunized against the latest virus outbreaks.
On Demand Live updates.
Clicking the 'Updater' button instantly contacts the Trustix™ web site and downloads database updates. This is especially important after running Trustix™ Antivirus for the first time. The 'Update' function complements the scheduled updates and its periodic use helps maintain the cutting-edge relevance of your virus databases.
One click reporting of system information
Trustix AntiVirus 2005 now includes the ability to submit vital hardware system and software information to support lab staff in one click. The reports accelerate ticket resolution by immediately informing staff of relevant information about a user's installation, thus ensuring that problems are resolved in the fastest time possible.
'Version Information' reports contain a summary of vital information about the version of TAV that a user has installed on their system, including product version, virus database version, update version, license type, subscription validity and critical file version information. The 'System Information' report contains details of the hardware and software environment that a user is currently running, including operating system and version, service pack level, internet explorer version, CPU information and the amount of RAM installed on the PC.
Scans compressed files
Unlike some AV programs, Trustix™ AntiVirus also scans archived files such as .zip, .rar etc. Any viruses lurking inside these compressed files will be detected.
These include RAR, WinRAR, ZIP, WinZIP ARJ, WinARJ and CAB archives.
Quarantine Facility
The quarantine facility removes and isolates suspicious into a safe location before analyzing them for possible infection. Any files transferred in this fashion are encrypted- meaning they cannot be run or executed. This isolation prevents infected files from affecting the rest of your PC. If a file cannot be disinfected then it provides a reliable safe-house until the virus database is updated- neutralizing the impact of any new virus.
Scan Removable Devices
Viruses don't just get onto your computer via email. Anything that passes information to your computer is a potential source of infection. Trustix AntiVirus 2005 enables you to check for viruses on any drive attached to your computer, including CD's, DVD's, external hard drives, USB connected drives, digital cameras and even your iPOD!!
Submit files for analysis - Pro-active virus defense
Trustix™ Anti-virus delivers the most comprehensive virus protection service available. After a file has been quarantined because of suspected infection, you have the option to submit the file for analysis. The 'Submit item' button will dispatch the file to our analysis center to be scrutinized for the presence of viruses.
Who knows? - You may be the first victim of a new Trojan or worm!!
After sending the file to us, our emergency response team will determine whether it contains harmful code and take immediate action to nullify it. The submit function is an important component of our coordinated strategy to combat zero-hour virus outbreaks.
On Demand Scanning - puts you in control
If you suspect a file, disk or folder may be infected you can use the right-click, on-demand scanning feature of Trustix AntiVirus 2005 to perform an instant check on the selected object.
In combination with the on access monitor, on demand scanning enables you to have complete reassurance that any viruses resident on your PC will be effectively and comprehensively removed.
On Access Scanning - Real Time protection
On access scanning is one of the most important features of Trustix AntiVirus 2005 - checking files in real time when they are created, opened or copied. ( i.e as soon as you interact with a file, Trustix Antivirus will check it for infection!!)
This instant detection of viruses assures you, the user, that your system is perpetually monitored for threats and enjoys the highest level of protection.
It is highly recommended that you enable the on access monitor to ensure your system remains continually free of infection.
Incremental Scanning
Not only is Trustix™ AntiVirus 2005 one of the most thorough and effective AV solutions available, it is also the fastest. Trustix AV features a data integrity checker that monitors which files have been modified and also maintains a scanned objects database. This means Trustix™ AntiVirus scans only files that have been created or modified since the last on-demand or scheduled scan - greatly improving the speed, relevancy and effectiveness of the scanning process.
Network drive scanning
Infected files that are located on network folders and mapped drives can affect your PC as severely as locally stored files. Trustix™ AntiVirus will detect any remote drives and scan them for viruses, Trojans and worms. This means complete protection not only from local viruses but any potential threats on a network. Furthermore, Trustix™ AntiVirus can be installed on servers to provide comprehensive, network wide safety for all shared files.

Trustix™ Antivirus 2005 offers perpetual and effective protection for your PC yet hardly touches system resources. It will quietly defend your system from virus attacks but won't hog your CPU or RAM.
